5 Skin Tips that will Change Your Summer

Sunshine is amazing. The feeling of basking in the warm sunshine brings back fond memories of past summers with good friends, good food, and lots of time in the great outdoors. The benefits of Vitamin D from the sun are so good for you, too. 

After too long in the sun, your skin can experience some not so great results. How do you keep your skin happy and bright while you’re enjoying time under the sun in nature? We love being outside, so we get the struggle. Here are our best tips for perfect, glowing skin in summertime.

  1. Wear Natural Sunscreen

Why apply harsh chemicals on your skin through your sunscreen when the rest of your Skincare Ritual is natural? Using a natural sunscreen with healthy ingredients is so important for your skin. Reapplying said sunscreen is also crucial, especially if you’re out in the wonderful sunshine for a couple hours or more. Don’t forget to use sunscreen on the tops of your ears, on your neck, and on your lips! Spending summer with those delicate areas burnt and red isn’t fun at all.

  1. Use a Moisturizer

Summer isn’t the season to skip the moisturizer! Since you’re exposing your skin to the sun more, you need to replenish it more. Use your favorite moisturizer twice a day, especially at night when your skin replenishes itself as you rest. If your skin feels oily, you can consider a lighter moisturizer that will moisturize your skin without adding too much oil. Give those forgotten places - such as your feet - a little extra love so that your skin glows from head to toe.

  1. Find Shade or Wear Protective Clothing

Sometimes there just isn’t enough sunscreen to shield your skin from excessive sun exposure. Put on that wide-brimmed sun hat or baseball cap that’s been hibernating in your closet and rock sun protection in style! Especially between 10am and 2pm, when the sun’s rays are the strongest and most direct, seek the shade’s cool, refreshing temperatures under an umbrella or tree. If you know that shade won’t be an option, opting for a lightweight long-sleeve t-shirt or a rash guard for the water is a great way to protect sensitive skin and still enjoy the sunshine!
