Fall Skincare, Seasonal Ingredients

Cooking with seasonal ingredients means that your body has access to nutrients best suited for the weather, climate, and (if you follow Ayurveda or Traditional Chinese Medicine), energetic qualities of the season. For example, Summer fruits are lighter and more refreshing than the denser squashes and root veggies of Winter, so in July and August it is more likely you’ll crave a fruit salad over heavier winter foods like mashed potatoes or squash stew.

As for your body's largest organ, seasonal skincare can also provide optimal nutrients to help your skin thrive. Here are three that we use, and how they’ll benefit you in the Autumn months:

Cranberry
You probably think of cranberries as a refreshing relish that foils the richness of a heavy Thanksgiving meal. In skincare, cranberry is a powerful bioactive ingredient that is rich in antioxidants and helps exfoliate dry and expired skin. You can find cranberries in our Daily AHA Gentle Exfoliator.

Persimmon
One of the gems of Fall, persimmons are tannic and sweet. As a skincare ingredient, persimmon is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, to help support skin’s suppleness and a healthy looking glow. You’ll find persimmon featured in our De-Stress Foaming Cleanser.

Matcha
What's cozier than a warm beverage on a cool autumn day? Not only does matcha tea make a fall-tacular latte base, it is a skincare ingredient that helps radically reduce visible signs of aging. This potent polyphenol-rich superstar can be found in our Superfood Smoothie Mask.
