For the past decade I have been on an airplane, in a car, on a train or preferably a motorcycle every single week. I’ve travelled to 18 countries and 49 states (haven’t been to Hawaii yet) I know right, crazy. I’ve learned to pack pretty light, but there is one product I simply will not go a day without…the Pangea Balancing Oil.
The Balancing Oil…or as we refer to it “The Oil” is just that, a complex blend of oils and extracts that deliver the most impactful, restorative and balancing you could ever hope for in a skin care product.
The first ingredient of note is the infamous Argan oil, for centuries Moroccan women have been using this oil to preserve their skin, hair and nails. The slow-growing Argan trees are so precious that in 1998 the Argan Forest was declared a Biosphere Reserve By UNESCO.
Argan oil is unique in many ways, its a very light oil that absorbs quickly and is rich with vitamin A and vitamin E. However, argan oil is also packed with anti-oxidants, Omega-6 fatty acids, and linoleic acid. Because it is easily absorbed into the skin the tocopherol from the vitamin E, helps to boost cell production, a pivotal key in a true long term anti aging regimen.
Omega-6 is a EFA (essential fatty acid) EFA’s are wonder workers for our body, either applied topically or internally. You see, Omega-6 keeps our skin cells vitality in tact by keep them hydrated. When our skin cells are hydrated our skin has the ability to drastically reduce the water loss through our epidermis (our top layer of skin) when our cells are in balance our skin is imbalance.
Next powerful ingredient is Tamanu. Tamanu oil comes from the large, blonde nuts of the Ati tree — has been used by natives of South East Asia and the Pacific Islands for centuries as a panacea for any kind of skin problem. My friend and world renowned ethnobotanist Chris Kilham has said Tamanu is one of the most effective agents in promoting the formation of new tissue, thereby accelerating wound healing and the growth of healthy skin. This process is known as cicatrization in medical terms. Essentially, it means that tamanu oil is a powerful skin regenerator. Tamanu oil also contains 3 essential classes of lipids: neutral, glyco-, and phospholipids.
For a long time Squalene was being harvested from Sharks livers, not ours. Ours comes from the raw oil of Mediterranean olives. Squalene is also found in human sebum (the oil our skin produces) which is one of the components that keeps us looking young, but as luck would have it our bodies squalene production peaks in our 20’s and quickly starts to decrease. We can thank an olive for picking up our slack on this. Squalene is a key component for its moisturization, UV protection and anti aging properties.
Rose otto essential oil is one of the most revered oils on the planet, not to be confused with rose absolute which uses a solvent called hexane in the process. Rose Otto is created using simple steam distillation, the oil is extremely precious in that it takes an acre of rose buds to create just a few ounces of the oil. Rose Otto is the most amazing oil for softening, smoothing and bringing life back into tired skin. It is essential in strengthening the collagen-elastin network. This network is what keeps your skin soft, supple, radiant and young-looking.
I saved the best for last, Helichrysum Oil otherwise known as Everlasting oil and Immortelle oil comes from a flower that is native to Africa, Madagascar, and Australasia. Simply put the oil is a wonder-worker when it comes to speeding up skin cell regeneration, fades scars and can help alleviate acne breakouts for those that are acne prone. There is no other essential oil on Earth that can compare.
To get the best benefits from this oil, cleanse and tone your skin then apply one pump on the oil into your hand and gently roll the oil in an upwards motion into your skin. Once in the am, and right before bed. You will be astounded by the results.
