Self-Love

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”
- Audrey Hepburn

As we approach one of the more controversial days of the year (Valentine’s Day), it’s as good a moment as any to talk about self-love.

Not just about spa days and “me time,” self-love is about the real respect we have for ourselves and the ways we show it. When we are filled with dignity and self-respect, the need to compare ourselves to others falls away. With self-love intact, we become magnetic and irresistible to our desire and purpose.

One of our favorite practices for activating true beauty and dispelling the power the media has to influence our self-image comes from the yogic practice of mantra. It’s very simple and powerful and can be done daily for 40 days if you want a formal self-love practice. (40 days is the right amount of time for deep transformation to take place, according to yogic wisdom.)

Instructions: Stand in front of a full-length mirror. Look at yourself and repeat the mantra, “I am bountiful, blissful, and beautiful. Bountiful, beautiful, and blissful I am.” Repeat the mantra for up to 11 minutes.

At the end, close your eyes, inhale, and feel your inherent worthiness. During the meditation, you can also use this beautiful recording of the Bountiful, Blissful, and Beautiful mantra by Kamari and Manvir.

Happy #SustainableSelfCareSunday!  We hope it is filled with celebration of your profound inner and outer beauty.
