Simple Glow

Rituals, according to Pangea founder, Joshua Onysko, help us in many ways: they help us make our day run smoother, get stuff done, elevate our daily tasks to the sublime, and organize our world. Small rituals can have big impacts and simple changes are the kind of changes that stick.

And, change is your friend. It may not always seem that way, because some changes happen outside our control. I heard a wise person say that a lot of what happens to us that makes us uncomfortable is due to greater outside determinants - in other words forces of nature over which we have very little control. You’ve heard the old adage - The only constant is change. So, let’s partner with change and see how it feels.

The most simple way to use ritual to make changes is to choose something simple and small. We say since it’s spring, why not change up your cleansing and nurturing rituals in tune with the seasons. Here are some ideas of things to add into your life that can expand your rituals and make your day a little brighter.

Body oil. Ayurveda recommends self-massage as a before bath ritual. You gently massage oil into your body using long strokes and warm oil. You can try our Haitian Vetiver & Mandarin Rind Body Oil as a great spring option. They claim that this practice can relieve some stress, improve circulation, and help with your overall sense of wellbeing.

Hand massage. There are studies that show the benefits of hand massage for easing some of the pain we may get from computer use, manual labor, even hobbies like knitting or gardening. Hand massage can also help relax the rest of your body before bed. Try our Hand Cream before bed as a relaxing ritual.

Face hydration. Pamper your face by increasing your hydration from the inside and the outside. Water, when you remember to drink enough of it, can be a ritual all by itself. Try getting a bottle you love and refilling it several times a day. We love this one for its beauty and also for what it does for the water. Then moisturize from the outside in. Our Super Antioxidant Glow Oil is packed with a powerful blend of six plant-based active oils and antioxidants for rich hydration. And everyone loves a good Eye Cream. I once read that you should go to sleep feeling like a very well glazed donut, and eye cream is the final step in getting glazed.

Try one or several of these new rituals for a few weeks and see how you feel. You may find that just the act of collaborating with change makes you feel much better about yourself, your life, the world around you, and the very process of change.
