Our New, Plastic-free Skincare is HERE!

Our new, Plastic-free Skincare is FINALLY here. We could not be more excited to share it with you. Not only is our packaging free from single-use plastics, we’ve upgraded our formulas with a lineup of powerful bioactives designed to seriously uplevel the glow and beauty of your skin.  

To give you a little background on the two-year process of our new Skincare line, we spoke with our CEO and Founder, Joshua Scott Onysko. Here’s what he shared about the process:

Tell us about the inception of Pangea’s new, Plastic-free Skincare line
I’ve been a scuba diver for more than 20 years. Five years ago, I was scuba diving and noticed a major increase in the amount of plastic in the ocean. This was really depressing to me. I did a deep dive on how much plastic we're using and how much of it is never getting recycled and discovered that plastic recycling is a farce. It’s just insane that there is a substance so globally ubiquitous that is designed for 10 minutes of use only to be thrown away for the next thousand years! This is really when I became inspired to create a #LifeAfterPlastic. 

What’s the new packaging like?
The creation of our Plastic-free Skincare was a 27-month journey. We did a lifecycle analysis and landed on molded fiber, aluminum, and glass as the best materials. We were interested in minimizing packaging in general, and, of course, we wanted to make it aesthetically pleasing. The topographical maps on our new skincare packaging also represent the location of the source of the primary ingredient in each formula – and it’s how we honor all the partners who created this collection with us, from soil to skin. 

Is the whole line completely Plastic-free?
Most aluminum tubes available on the market are made with plastic caps. We spent over two years engineering custom aluminum caps for our packaging, and I'm proud to say that our new aluminum tubes are completely Plastic-free.

We needed pumps and sprayers to optimize the experience of our products, and right now the only option is plastic. The ones we chose, however, can be used for a decade. We wanted to give customers the option to buy them once and be able to use them over and over again.

Why did you also choose to reformulate your skincare?
When we committed to going Plastic-free, we decided to go all the way and upgrade our formulations too. I was fortunate to be able to source incredible ingredients to create what I believe is the most efficacious skincare collection on the market. Bakuchiol (a natural retinol-alternative) is a new ingredient I’m particularly excited about, but if you're not using the right amount, it won't be effective. These formulations use scientifically proven amounts that actually do what we say they’ll do.

Any words for those who loved the old formulations and might be feeling nervous about switching over to the new?
Our new formulas are still pure but are now even more potent – combining the best of nature with the power of science for products that deliver noticeable results. I’m confident you’ll love this next generation of Pangea products.
